Allen John Crumb

September 11, 1929 ~ September 30, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

 Allen’s life began September 11, 1929 in Benton Harbor, born to John Robinson and Elinore Beecher (Allen) Crumb.  Allen grew up in Watervliet, where he graduated high school  in 1947. A few years after graduation Allen was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. In 1954 Allen married Virginia (Dolly) Landeck.  They remained married in love for 59 years . Allen worked for 30 years for Continental Can Company. In his younger years outside of work Allen would enjoy golfing and fishing.  After retirement his favorite pastimes were gardening and spending time with his grandson John.  Allen was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph as an usher for 45 years. He was also active in the  Knights of Columbus, of St. Joseph Catholic, Watervliet.  Allen’s greatest joy was his loving family which includes his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Pam Crumb of Benton Harbor and especially his Grandson John Crumb of Benton Harbor.  He is also survived by sister-in- law Dolores Pepperl and brother-in-law John “Jack” Landeck, both of St. Joseph.

Allen died Saturday, September 30 at his son’s home.   His loving wife of 59 years Virginia “Dolly” (Landeck) Crumb and his parents John and Elinore (Allen) Crumb precede Allen in death.

Friends may visit with Allen’s family Thursday, October 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 6, at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
