Laurie Ann Van Loon passed away peacefully Wednesday morning February 7th, 2018, 1 day shy of her 61st Birthday, and is now rejoined with her parents Laurence & Seraphine (Petrocelli) Van Loon in the loving arms of her Lord in Heaven.
Laurie is survived by her 2 brothers; Dennis (Alexis) Van Loon of Saugatuck and Michael (Kristine) Van Loon of Paw Paw, 1 nephew, Nathan Van Loon of Gobles, 4 Nieces; Stephanie Van Loon of Portage, MI, Kristen (Van Loon) Wielenga of St Joseph, Kelsey Van Loon of Indianapolis and Nicole Van Loon of the Dominican Republic, and 1 Grand Niece, Olivia Wielenga.
Laurie attended Gard School and the Blossomland Learning Center and then found the joy of employment at Gateway Center in Berrien County and later at Kandu Industries in Ottawa County.
She loved many sports and proudly competed in the Special Olympics winning medals in basketball, swimming and bowling. And later, relentlessly scoured the sports pages for any news relating to her beloved Michigan Wolverines
.
Laurie especially enjoyed traveling with her Mom to Arizona to see the Cubs during Spring Training, and in later years continued her traveling adventures while living with the crew at My Sisters House II in Holland, especially looking forward to the talent show at Camp Sunshine. Although slowing down a bit, her wonderful care continued at Pine Ridge and finally Resthaven, where the staff showed tremendous love & respect for Laurie.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet, MI beginning with vistiation at 10:30 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:30 AM Saturday Feb 10th. Burial will folllow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Watervliet. Memorials may be made in Laurie's name to March of Dimes or Special Olympics.
