Betty Lou (Runyon) Jones

Betty’s life began December 14, 1929, in Watervliet, Michigan. She spent her lifetime in Watervliet where she graduated high school and met the love of her life. Betty married Harold Jones in 1949 and they enjoyed over 50 years together. Betty started her working career at the dime store in town during high school. In her adult years she worked as a book keeper for several different places including Krenek, Elliot Equipment, and Desco. At one point Betty worked as a meet cutter at Harding’s. Betty loved her community and enjoyed giving back through volunteering at her church. In her quiet time Betty enjoyed cross stitching, reading and ceramics.

Her greatest love was her family who she leaves behind to cherish her memory including her son Robert A Jones, daughter Denise M (Mark) Crumb, granddaughter Samantha L Crumb, several nieces and nephews, and her dog Buddy.

Betty died Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Corewell Health in St. Joseph. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Jones, parents Frank and Rosie Runyon, daughter-in-law Kathryn Jones, and her sister JoAnn Alspaugh.

Visitation for Betty will be Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Funeral services will be celebrated Monday, February 26, at 11:00 AM with burial following in Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Watervliet.
