James E Scheid

James’ life began October 11, 1952, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. James was a lifetime area resident and attended both Hartford and Watervliet Public Schools. He worked most of his adult life for Hanson Cold Storage and as a security guard at Palisades Nuclear Plant. James loved the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing on Paw Paw Lake and River, bike riding, and cheering for Old Notre Dame.

James died Monday, January 19, 2024, at home. He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including: his son Andrew (Megan) Scheid, two grandchildren Parker and Jack, life partner Pat Scheid (Fullriede), a brother Tom (Joanne) Scheid, many nieces and nephews, and his dog Tucker. James is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Helen Scheid, two brothers Pete (Pat) Scheid and John Scheid, a sister Marilyn (Jim) Malin and a nephew Bret Malin.

Hutchins Funeral Home is assisting James’ family with cremation. A graveside service will be celebrated June 7, 2024, at 4:00PM at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Watervliet. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for James’ family.
