Edgar HollandJune 17, 1939 ~ August 19, 2017 (age 78)
Edgar Lee Holland, 78 of Hartford went to be with our Lord on August 19, 2017. He was born in Samsonia, Kentucky and spent most of his life in southwest Michigan. On December 15, 1957 he was married to the love of his life, Eunice McAndrew of Baton Rouge Louisiana. He was very involved in New Freedom Church in Coloma Michigan. Ed was a strong member of the Hartford community for over 30 years. He opened VICS pizza in downtown Hartford in 1985. This restaurant served as a sanctuary for local patrons to gather after school, practice or work for a great meal and warm conversation. After VICS pizza, Ed opened up a new pawnshop in town, Hartford outlet. He always had a passion for his town, he even resurrected the Hartford strawberry festival and was an active member of the Hartford business Association. He was very involved with the Hartford community through mentorship, as an active sports fan, and even providing employment for our youth.
Ed leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory which includes his five children: Eddie Holland, Romona (Darrell) Halsle, Lauri Holland, Victor (Caterina) Holland, and Shirley (Brian) Schemic; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eunice Holland (McAndrew), his daughter Leona Goyer, his grandson EJ Holland, a granddaughter Anna Schemic, his parents; John and Bernice Holland, and several siblings.
Friends may visit with Ed's family at 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 23 at New Freedom Church in Coloma. A homecoming celebration will commence at 5:30 PM. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Watervliet. Memorials may be made in Ed’s memory to New Freedom Church.
