John’s life began April 7, 1933, in Mexico, New York. As a child his parents moved to Michigan making their home in Hartford. John graduated from Hartford High School, after high school he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korea War and was stationed for a time in Japan. Upon returning home John went to work at Whirlpool where he grew into supervisor of the shipping department and was involved with the miracle kitchen. Outside of work John enjoyed watching sports, writing, and sharing his stories with his daughter Delores.
John is survived by: two daughters Delores Hauf of Watervliet and Vicky (Bob) Wagner of St. Joseph; five grandchildren Stephen (Patricia) Barrow, Jason (Julie) Querfurth, James Roeder, Joshua Roeder, and Arthur J Wagner; and two great grandchildren Jaylie and Jacob Querfurth.
John died Friday, March 1, at home. Two daughters Jeanette Haldy and Virginia Hauf, his parents Adolf and Anna Hauf and a brother Ed Hauf precede John in death. Hutchins Funeral Home is assisting John’s family with cremation and they will celebrate his life at a later date.
