John Anthony Tucker Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 26th after a courageous fight against cancer.
He was born on February 27th 1941 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to John and Pauline (Lounsbury) Tucker.
John honorably served our country for 34 combined active and reserve years, 20 years in the Navy and 14 in the Air Force. John’s service continued as a life member of the AMVETS Post 1988 - Baldwin, Mich., American Legion Post 362 - Coloma, Mich., VFW Post 1137 - Watervliet, Mich., Post 1570 Loyal of Moose - Benton Harbor, Mich., Watervliet Rod & Gun Club, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and patriot who loved spending time with his family and friends in the woods and on the water.
After his military service, he worked at Clark Equipment for 21 years.
John is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Schaller) and survived by their three sons, Charles (Valerie Higginbottom), John Tucker III (Tina Cooper) and Thomas Tucker. He is also survived by his sister Sharon, niece Becky, cousins, Bob, Karen, Rosalie, Dan and Larry, his close family friend Skip and his beloved dog Arizona.
John also enjoyed a close relationship with his grandchildren, Brian (Kelly) Tucker, Kevin Tucker, Melanie Kent, Dylan Tucker, Step Grandson JJ and Great-Grandchildren Aveyn and Carson Tucker.
Visitation will be held at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet, Mich. on Monday, October 1st from 6 to 8pm and a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, October 2nd at 1pm.
Memorials in Johns name can be made to Disabled American Veterans and the VFW.
