Lenard’s life began May 1, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. Lenard’s family moved to Watervliet where he grew up and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1954. In 1957 he married the love of his life Ella Fleming and they raised four daughters. Lenard worked as a bricklayer for 50 years through Vandermay, Miller/Davis, and Pierson Construction. He enjoyed giving back to his community through volunteering on the Watervliet Fire Department, serving on the Berrien County Fair Board, and he served as Superintendent of the Youth Fair’s Rabbit Barn. Lenard was also a very active member of Midway Baptist Church in Watervliet.
Above work and volunteering Lenard’s greatest love was his family which includes: his wife Ella; four daughters Pamela (Jim) Rodriguez of Watervliet, Deanna Baker of Las Vegas, Christina Martin of Coloma, and Alicia (Roger) Lidberg-Bryant of Coloma; seven grandchildren Jimmy Rodriguez, Theresa (Ahmad) Davis, Beth (Steve) Wooley, Matt (Tanya) Rodriguez, Scott Marks, Brittany (Kyle) Duncombe, Nikki Bryant; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two siblings Doris Atherton and Robert Reeves; and several nieces and nephews.
Lenard died Sunday, April 7, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. His parents Edwin and Evelyn Lidberg precede Lenard in death. Funeral services will be celebrated Friday, April 12 at 12:30 PM with visitation starting at 11:00 AM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
