Welcome to the memorial page for

Roger William Molter

May 15, 1948 ~ October 21, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Roger’s life began May 15, 1948 in St. Joseph , Michigan .  He grew up on the family farm in Sister Lakes and graduated from Eau Claire High School .  After high school Roger went to work at Clark Equipment as time keeper and later a boring mill operator while farming part time.  When Clark Equipment closed in the early 80's, Roger decided to pursue his real passion in life, full time farming. Aside from fruit he grew an acre of corn annually to see if he could do it like the "big boys".  The main place he could be found in the Winter months was his shop, fabricating, repairing equipment or just spending good times with family, friends and neighbors. Roger always made it a point to try to make you laugh or put a smile on your face.  He was a man who enjoyed the little things, for instance he took the time to marvel in the sunset every morning and the sunset at night.  You could find Roger in the woods during hunting season but he would return home in the evening with his gun full of shells and his camera full of pictures of deer and other wild life.  The only thing Roger loved more than his farm was his family.  He didn’t miss an opportunity to support his girls in their activities from sports to life in general or sharing his love for 4-H. Roger loved 4-H and enjoyed attending as many 4-H fairs he could every year with his best friend, business partner and very loving wife, Patty.

Roger leaves behind a very loving family to cherish his memory which includes: his wife of 34 years Patty (Hiler) Molter; three children Greg (Nina) Molter, Angie Molter(Ryan Ruhno), and Alison (Kevin) Norton; four grandchildren Quinn Molter, Isabel Molter, Hailey Smith, and Lexi Norton; a brother Bob (Cheryl) Molter;; mother-in-law, Jane Hiler; brother-in-law Bruce (Elaine) Hiler; brother-in-law Jon (Cheryl) Hiler; Sister-in-law Terese (Frank) Simanton, and several nieces and nephews

Roger died Saturday, October 21, 2017 from a farm accident. His parents Arnold and Doris (Hewitt) Molter and two sisters Donna Friske and Diane Stoker precede Roger in death.  Friends may visit with Roger’s family Wednesday, October 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.  Funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, October 26, at 1:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home.  A private family burial will take place in Dewey Lake Cemetery in Sister Lakes at a later date.  Memorials may be made in Roger’s memory to Cass County or Berrien County 4-H Foundation.
