Daniel's life began October 19, 1928, in South Bend, Indiana. After high school Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a counter man at All Phase Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1989. Outside of work he enjoyed his family, gardening especially flowers, traveling, all sports, reading, making wooden toys and other woodworking.
Daniel's greatest joy was his family which includes: his wife Arline whom he married January 30, 1954; four children David (Sharon) Click of Manchester, MI, Michael (Cindy) Wegenka of Stoddard, WI, Thomas Wegenka of Nashville, TN, and Mary Ann Smith of Shoreview, MN; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and two siblings Mary Jane Fowler and Chester (Marilyn) Wegenka.
Daniel died Friday, January 10, at his home. He is preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Mitchell, his parents Walter and Blanche Wegenka, and five siblings Robert Wegenka, Walter Wegenka, Frank Wegenka, Patricia Laskowski, and Rita Csenar.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 14 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet. Memorials may be made in Daniel's memory to Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation, or to his family. Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet is assisting Daniel's family with arrangements.
