Danny's life began November 14, 1955 in Benton Harbor.  He was a lifetime area resident who enjoyed collecting sports cards and trying his luck at the casino.  He enjoyed his family which includes: five children Stacey Hettinger (Brian Snyder) of Brooksville, FL, Toshia Thomas (Vern Rutherford) of Stevensville, Hailey Thomas, Kendall Thomas, and Travis Thomas all of Lawrence; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his mom Mary Thomas; two siblings Dennis Thomas and Betty McCarley;  and many nieces and nephews.

Danny died Tuesday, February 16, at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph.  He is preceded in death by a son Danny "DJ" Thomas Jr, a granddaughter Tiffany Thomas, his dad Virgil Thomas, his exwife Diane Thomas, and a sister Shirley Hillhouse.  Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, February 25, at 1:00 PM with visitation prior starting at 12:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.  Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Garends.  Family requests any donation be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.  In honor of Danny's love of sports his family would like everyone to wear their jeans and favorite sport's team to the service.
