Dorothy was born January 12, 1935, in Hackleburg, Alabama. Dorothy grew up in Hackleburg with her six siblings. On September 30, 1957 she married Vecil Crow and they moved to Zion, Illinois for work. They lived there until retirement when they moved to Algood, Tennessee. In 2007 Vecil died and Dorothy moved to St. Joseph, Michigan to be closer to her nieces and their families. Dorothy worked for many years overseeing quality control at Abbot Labs in Chicago. While at Abbot she was awarded several recognition awards. Dorothy loved to travel with family and go shopping. You could find her relaxing through gardening or working on puzzle books.
Dorothy leaves behind several nieces and nephews to cherish her memory including her nieces and their spouses who were her care givers Pamela Zepik, Sharon Jollay, and Charlene Harbin.
Dorothy died Monday, August 8, at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph surrounded by her nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Vecil, parents Tom and Virgie (Hudson) Hulsey, and her five siblings Thomas (Sue) Hulsey, Franklin (Marianne) Hulsey, Gilbert (Irene) Hulsey, Charles (Avila) Hulsey, Clyde (Ester) Hulsey, and Veola (Jimmy) Tyra.
Dorothy's life will be celebrated in Hamilton, Alabama.
