Obituary

Gary's life began February 4, 1952, in Jackson, Michigan. He was the fourth of five children born to Lavon "Mike" and Madge (Lintner) Phillipi. When Gary was in the second grade the family moved from Jackson and settled on Paw Paw Lake in Watervliet, Michigan. He graduated from Watervliet High School in 1970 and then attended Lake Michigan College. Gary went to work at the Watervliet Paper Mill as a millwright until it closed and then he was a hydraulic technician at Eagle Technologies in Bridgman. Outside of work Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, tending to his garden and yard, and spending time with his family.
Gary's family includes; his loving wife of 30 years Pamala (Pethick) Phillipi, his son Gary Lance Phillipi (Kim Tarantino) of Watervliet, his mother Madge Phillipi of Watervliet, four siblings Loretta (Roland) Hutchins and Judy Phillipi both of Watervliet, Mike (Kathy) Phillipi of Coloma, and Kim Phillipi (Marvonne Burgraff) of Sparta, MI, many nieces and nephews; and his dogs Colby and Bella.

Gary died Thursday, November 6, at Community Hospital in Watervliet. His dad Lavon "Mike" Phillipi, in-laws Victor and Ruth Pethick, and a nephew Michael Phillipi precede Gary in death. Friends may visit with Gary's family Sunday, November 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet where funeral services will be celebrated Monday, November 10, at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made in Gary's memory to the Humane Society.
