Gladys (Nee: Hill) Lottridge, age 97, of Watervliet passed away January 16, 2014 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St Joseph. Gladys was born in Grand Rapids, MI on October 8, 1916. The daughter of the late Claude and Constance (Nee: Griffin) Hill. On August 12, 1933, she was united in marriage to Jack "Duff" Lottridge in South Bend, Indiana. Gladys worked at Nielsen's Jewelry Store, The Boston Store, and Deer Forest but her greatest job was being a wife and mother. She was a vibrant, intelligent and caring, woman who cherished time spent with family and friends. Gladys enjoyed working at the election polls in Watervliet and was one of the founding members of the Watervliet Fire Department Fire Belles.
She is survived by her children, Harold "Bud" (Jeanette) Lottridge of Watervliet, Judy (Herb) Kehlstrom of Racine, Wisconsin, and daughter-in-law Patricia Lottridge of Sawyer, Michigan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Terri Lyon (fiancée Richard Bolek) of Irons, Michigan, Pam (Neill) Kirkwood of Nappanee, Indiana, Monica (Karl) Werelius of Sawyer, Michigan, Kimberly Lottridge of St. Joseph, Roger (Aimee) Lottridge of League City, Texas, Mark (DeeDee) Lottridge of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and great-grandchildren Kate (Zachary) Schewe, Wesley, Hannah and William Kirkwood, Willow and Levi Price, Kyle and Dylen Lottridge, Lillian and Isabelle Werelius. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mildred Olson, husband Jack, and son John.
A celebration of life will be held at Hutchins Funeral Home, 209 S. Main St, Watervliet, Saturday, June 28, 2014, 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Laurie Hartzell, First Presbyterian Church, Benton Harbor, Michigan, officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday at the funeral home, 10:00 A.M. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Watervliet Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, 217 W. Pleasant Street, Watervliet, MI 49098.
