Gordon Frederick Rosenbaum, 97, of Bainbridge Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014, at Woodland Terrace in Coloma, MI. Gordon was born on January 11, 1917, in Watervliet,MI, to Fred and Kathryn Rosenbaum. He graduated from Watervliet High School in 1935 along with his future wife Clara (Lightner) Rosenbaum. They were married in 1936 and raised their family and farmed together on the family fruit farm in Bainbridge. Gordon was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ for over 60 years. He enjoyed golfing, visiting with friends, and playing pinochle. In the late 1950s Gordon began attending the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race and went almost every year until he could no longer make the long walk to the race track. He and Clara enjoyed travelling and spent the winter months in Florida where Gordon golfed almost every day. He is survived by two sons Gerald (Karen) Rosenbaum of Coloma, MI, and Lewis (Marilyn) Rosenbaum of St. Louis, MO; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; a son, James; and two sisters, Leah and Kathryn. Visitation will be at Hutchins Funeral Home, 209 South Main St., Watervliet, MI, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at North Shore Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1650 N. Bainbridge Center Rd., Watervliet, MI 49098, or Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
