Howard L. Kimball, 86 of Watervliet passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 27, 2015.
Howard was born on August 23, 1929, to SB and Anna (Ryan) Kimball in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
He served in the United States Army, the 2 nd infantry, 38 th regiment, 1 st Battalion, B-Company during the Korean War. He was one of five out of 205 men in Company B to survive an attack at Yalu River Chosen Reservoir.
After his military service Howard came home and was united in marriage to Elsie Laura Spillers on October 25, 1952, in Watervliet. Together they raised five daughters, Cindy (Dave) Young, Sandra (Jim) Richter, Jane (Paul) Dykema, Julie (Jerry) Rider, and Amy (Jeff) O'Riley. Howard is also survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a sister Ruth Ann McDermott. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Elsie who passed away November 4, 2009, a brother Thomas S. Kimball, and his parents.
Cremation has taken place, a memorial service with military rites will be celebrated Saturday, October 3, at 12:30 PM with visitation prior starting at 11:00 AM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
