Joan Marie Harris, age 77, passed away peacefully February 6, 2019.  She was born October 15, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Florence Harris but lived the majority of her life in Watervliet, Michigan.

Well established arm chair psychologist to her family and friends, Joan was a voracious reader and was deeply intellectual.  Always thinking and talking, she continued to surprise her family and friends with new stories from her life.  Joan was a devout Catholic and went to church religiously every Sunday.  A self-proclaimed introvert, Joan still had many, many friends and has been known to talk to a store teller or two for much longer than other customers would enjoy.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a previous husband George Stainbrook.  Joan is survived by: her brother James Harris, sister Barbara Wurn; her seven children James Stainbrook, Deborah Sisson, John Stainbrook, Elizabeth Stainbrook, Joseph Stainbrook, Rebecca Hayes and Daniel Ray Hayes Jr.; her life partner Daniel Ray Hayes Sr; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as two lifelong friends Patricia Holtz and Sharon Russell.  All of these she loved very much and will miss her greatly.  Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet assisted Joan's family with cremation and a memorial service will be celebrated in the spring.  You are invited to leave a message of comfort for Joan's family at hutchinsfuneral.com
