Obituary

Joanne's life began December 2, 1949, in New Lothrop, Michigan, where she graduated high school. While picking up lunch Joanne met Tom Scheid who owned and ran a local bar with his brother. When Tom and his brother sold, Tom went back to Southwest Michigan to find a job relocating them to Watervliet. Joanne enjoyed providing for her family, she did this through several jobs her favorites being working at the Board of Trade and then Watervliet Public Schools for more than 30 years. In her free time she enjoyed flower gardening, listening to all types of music, taking walks, and baking especially Czechoslovakian pastries. Joanne loved Paw Paw Lake and her perfect view of it from her front yard, she also enjoyed animals especially her "grand" animals and taking care of all the neighborhood stays.

Joanne's favorite times were spent with family. She leaves behind a loving one to cherish her memory including: her husband of 54 years Tom Scheid; her daughter Jen Scheid and her husband Tim Walburn; her son Christopher and his wife Carly Scheid; a sister Jonilyn (Michael) Bruff; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joanne died Monday, December 1, 2025, at Laurel Oaks in South Haven with her family at her side. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Anastasia (Sovis) Kuchar and four sisters Mildred, Stacy, Elaine, and Vicky. Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet is assisting Joanne's family with cremation and her life will be celebrated in the spring.
