John's life began August 2, 1951, in Sewickely, PA. When he was in his teens John's family moved to Michigan and found their home in Watervliet. John graduated from Watervliet High School and then headed to the service. John served his country for 13 years splitting his time between the United States Navy and then the United States Air Force. After the service John returned home and worked for Vall Rubber. In his spare time John enjoyed boating, fishing, and driving his Jeep. John was a proud Vietnam Veteran and a member of Least We Forget.

John's greatest joy was spending time with his loving family which includes: his wife who John enjoyed 28 years with Jamesie (Anderson) Head; two children David Head and Melissa Ann Marie Crouch; three step-children Henry Anderson, Jimmy Anderson, and Cindy (Dennis) Pocius; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters Janet (Butch) Fillmore and Norma (Roger) Hanson; and several nieces and nephews.

John died Friday, June 18, 2021, at Spectrum Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. His parents Donald and Anna Marie (Scalericio) Head precede John in death. Friends may visit with John's family Monday, June 21, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. A graveside service will be celebrated Tuesday, June 22, at 12:00 noon at Watervliet Cemetery in Watervliet, Michigan. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for John's family.
