Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
John’s life began July 16, 1961, in San Diego, California. His parents moved to South Bend, Indiana, where he spent most of his childhood. After graduating high school John earned an Associates Degree in Computer Science and found a job working IT support. John lived in the Grand Rapids area with the love of his life Janice McGregor until 2006 when she passed away. He then moved to SW Michigan to be close to his parents. In his spare time John enjoyed online gaming, playing cards and board games and watching movies. Among his greatest joys was bringing people together for role-playing games. More than a hobby, games were John's way of creating lasting friendships, strengthening family bonds, and sharing countless adventures filled with laughter, imagination, and camaraderie. The memories made through those games will remain with all who were fortunate enough to join him.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including: his parents James and Eleanor (Imbelloni) Rauner; seven siblings Peter (Kim) Rauner, Joseph Rauner, Therese (Nick) Guntz, Paul Rauner, Gina (Greg) Grear, David (Heather) Rauner, and Maria (Ed) Dahn; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend Jim Leiter.
John died Sunday, July 5, 2026. He is preceded in death by his wife Janice McGregor, a sister Eileen Rauner, and a nephew Michael Rauner.
John’s life will be celebrated with a memorial mass Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hartford, Michigan with a luncheon at the church following.
