Obituary

Keith Eugene Osborne (77), of Coloma, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 21, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his warm presence and his ability to connect with anyone that crossed his path.

Born January 2, 1949, in Grass Lake, Michigan, Keith was the son of the late Gaylord E. and Esther F. (Beal) Osborne. He graduated from Grass Lake High School in 1967 and was the Salutatorian of his class. Keith then attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering.

On April 18, 1975, Keith married the love of his life, the former Kathleen E. McCann, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Jackson.

Keith served in the Army National Guard from 1971 to 1977. He completed his basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was stationed with the 464thField Service Company in Jackson, Michigan.

Keith worked at Consumers Power Company in Jackson and then transferred to The Palisades Nuclear Plant in Covert, Michigan. During his 30 plus-year career at Palisades, he held various engineering and management roles including a Senior Reactor Operator’s License. After he retired from Palisades, Keith joined the J.H. Campbell Coal Generating Plant in Grand Haven for another 9 years as a contractor.

Keith was actively involved in the Coloma area community serving in roles on the Coloma School Board, Coloma Fire Board, and the Coloma Youth Baseball Association. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4055 in Watervliet.

Keith enjoyed attending University of Michigan Football games where he was a season ticket holder for over 52 years. He was a devoted sport fisherman where he spent countless early mornings on Lake Michigan out of Ludington with family and friends. Keith was also an avid golfer.

Keith was a family person. He never missed any of his children’s sporting events, and later attending his six grandchildren’s activities. Keith traveled with Kathy to Alaska, Spain, Portugal, France, Ireland, and Italy. Keith and Kathy were also snowbirds to the Ft. Myers Beach area where numerous friendships were formed later in life.

Keith is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Kathleen, two loving children: Andrew E. (Amanda) Osborne of Howell and Julie E. (Michael) Dzamba of East Grand Rapids, six grandchildren: Addison, Andrew, and Abigail Osborne and Ellie, John “Jack” and Catherine Dzamba. Keith has three surviving sisters: Karen Wortley, Susan Osborne and Nancy Marton.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents Gaylord and Esther (Beal) Osborne.

Friends may visit with Keith’s family Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Cremation will follow visitation and Keith will be buried at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery in Jackson, Michigan.
