Obituary

Melody’s life began on October 22, 1969, in Watervliet, Michigan. She grew up in Southwest Michigan but fell in love with Northern Michigan and made her forever home in Cheboygan 20 years ago.

Melody loved being a wife, mother and aunt. She found great joy in cooking and caring for everyone who walked through her door. She also found peace in painting rocks and spending time on the beach with her beloved husband, Elvis.

Melody leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her husband of 27 years, Elvis; her three children, Courtney (Amber) Christopher, Tomi (Brennan) Jones, and Travis Christopher; four brothers, James Brant, David Brant, Jimmy Gaston and Everette Gaston; her sister Rashonda (Jason) Fuller. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her granddaughter Mea Melody, a joy she looked forward to with great excitement. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Dabby who stayed by her side until the very end. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Melody passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vanessa and Everette Gaston, her biological mom Delma (Brown) Brant, and her brother, Robert Brant.

Friends may visit with Melody’s family on Monday, October 26, 2026 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Cremation will follow the services.
