Opal's life began December 7, 1945 in Otsego, MI. She is retired from Whirlpool where she worked for more than thirty years in their payroll department. Opal enjoyed filling her spare time cooking, crocheting, knitting, needlework, drawing, painting, and playing the saxophone. Her greatest joy came in spending time with her loving family which includes: her husband John Stowe; two sons Elliot (Melissa) Stowe of Stevensville and Christopher Stowe of Lansing; two grand daughters Maya and Hailey Stowe; a brother Frank (Donna) Ashley of St. Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.

Opal died Thursday, June 12, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. She is preceded in death by four siblings; Pearl (Lavern) Clawson, Leo (Lilah) Ashley, Allan (Alice) Ashley, and Arlene Ashley, and her parents John and Hazel Ashley. A memorial service will be celebrated Wednesday, June 18, at 1:00 PM with visitation prior from 11:00 am to 1:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
