Richard's life began Dec. 15, 1966, in St. Joseph. He was a lifetime area resident who, outside of work, enjoyed woodworking and cars.

Richard died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019.

He leaves behind a loving family which includes his wife, Melissa Smith; son,  Austin Smith; and a brother, Dan Smith.

His parents, Richard and Kathleen (Spence) Smith Sr.; a brother, Frank; and a sister, Jennifer; precede Richard in death.

Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet assisted Richard's family with cremation. His family will celebrate his life with a visitation and a memorial service starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at New Apostolic Church on Paw Paw Avenue in Watervliet.
