Obituary

After a courageous, valiant battle with cancer Ronald L. " Pappa" Horton went home to the Lord surrounded by his loving family in his home on January 09, 2014. Ron was born on May 24, 1938 to Frank and Thelma Horton. Ron graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in 1956. Ron spent two years in the United States Army where he earned the Highest Peace Time Award an infantry soldier can earn, "The Expert Infantry Badge". In addition he also earned "The Good Conduct medal" and left the U.S. Army having attained the rank of Sgt.E-5.
Ron was a born again Christian and a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church in Berrien Springs. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Horton, his sister Madelyn (Schedler), his brothers Duane, Leslie, Jim and Michael. His beloved daughter, Faith and son Duane.
Survivors include the love of his life, caretaker, and devoted wife Delorise, daughters Joy L. Stump, Cherie (Paul) Phillippi , and sons Ronald L. (Tammy) Horton II, Michael A. (Robyn) Duncan, Norman Dean (Kathryn) Duncan, Michael T. (Dawn) Hoffman, 12 Grand Children and 4 Great Grand children. He is also survived by his brother Dennis Horton, his sister Judy Boyle, and his beloved pet Molly.

Reverend Starley Baker will celebrate Ron's life Tuesday, January 14, at noon with visitation prior starting at 11:00  AM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.  Memorials may be made to Ron's family.  You may leave a memory of Ron at hutchinsfuneral.com
