Ruth's life began May 9, 1910 in Watervliet. She was lifelong Watervliet resident. She worked for many years as a sorter at Watervliet Paper Mill and she worked as a nurses aid at Watervliet Community Hospital. Outside of work she enjoyed riding horses, doing crafts, being an active member of Watervliet Free Methodist Church, and spending time with her loving children.

She leaves behind a loving family which includes; two sons Verlyn (Jerry) Cowgill and Clarence (Roberta) Cowgill both of Coloma, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, a brother Robert Woodworth of Decatur, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth died Monday, September 8, at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph. Her loving husband Clarence, a brother William, and two sisters Irma and Reba precede Ruth in death. Funeral services will be celebrated Thursday, September 11 at 11:00 AM with visitation prior starting at 9:00 AM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet.
