Shonda Marie (Warren) Slater, 40, of Hasting, Michigan, formally of Watervliet, passed away November 14, 2015 at home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am,  Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Hutchins Funeral Home, 209 S. Main Street., Watervliet, Michigan.  Assisting the family was Girrbach Funeral Home, Hastings, Michigan and Hutchins Funeral Home, Watervliet, Michigan.
Shonda was born July 12, 1975, in St. Joseph, Michigan.  On February 15, 2013 she married Christopher Scott Slater and they made there home in Hasting, Michigan.  Shonda was a graduate of Watervliet High School.  She graduated from Twin CIty Beauty College in St. Joseph as a cosmetologist,  then continuing her education at Lake Michigan College, graduating with the highest honors, receiving the Spirit of Nursing Award, receiving an Associate degree in Science as a Registered Nurse.  She was currently working on getting her Bachelor's degree.
Shonda's first job was picking strawberries, a job that lasted one day.  Next she worked at Hardings Friendly Market in Watervliet while attending high school.  Her favorite job was working at Lakeland Heath Care in St. Joseph, Michigan in the Ortho/Neuro department as a Registered Nurse.  Currently she was working at Spectrum Home Health Care based in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a Visiting Nurse.
Shonda was a loving, caring, passionate person.  She loved cleaning, bleach addict so the kids say.  She loved giving advice, laughing, giving care to those who needed it and was great giving a beaver impression. As a young child she would read the Readers Digest Medical Book perhaps giving her that drive to become a nurse.   She has left an whole in hearts of family and friends in her passing.
Survivors include her husband Christopher Slater, of Hastings; five children, Chase Slater of Hastings, Kaitlyn, Kylee, Kenzie and Kennedy Warren of Watervliet, her father,  Jerry Boone of Cassopolis, Michigan and her mother Paget Adair of Watervliet,  In-Laws David Slater of Hasting, Dennis and Patricia Warren, Watervliet, Grandmother Nora Boone, Eau Claire, Michigan, Three sisters, Maurenna Rickers of Hartford, Brandilyn Ramseyer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Suzanne Davis of Baroda, One brother Steven Adair of Stevensville, Michigan, Brother- In- Law Eddie Warren and former husband Randy Warren, Uncle Ken and Aunt Pat along with Nephews and Neices Kevin and Matthew Miller, Raymond and Monica Rickers, Vanassa Hubbard, Tiffany Kyncl, Angela Beilman, Jamie Myers and Jon Davis and many cousins.
Shonda was preceded in death by Grandparents Lyle and Dorothy Rau, Her "Papa" Jack Adair, Grandma Leonna Liles, Aunt Louise Rotach and Cousin Debbie Wiles and her Mother-In-Law Patricia Slater.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in care of Paget Adair for funeral expenses.
