Obituary

Mary Virginia (Davis) young age 97 of Watervliet danced her way into the gates of heaven on June 14, 2014. Virginia is finally free of the grip that dementia had on her, and she is free to join god and so many others that have gone before her.

Virginia was born on a farm in Strawberry Point, Iowa to George and Rena Davis. She earned her teaching degree in 1935, and began teaching in a one room school house. With her first paycheck she bought her mother a red ring, that was something her mother always wanted. For the first 7 years she taught in many rural schools. Shortly before leaving Iowa to move to southwest Michigan she was offered a job as assistant county superintendent in Fayette, Iowa. She didn't think much about the promotion as many people would have, because she wouldn't be working directly with the children. She always said children are the true jewels on earth, and she dearly loved working with each and every one of them.

She left the teaching profession and went to work at 1900 corporation, the forerunner of whirlpool corp. In St. Joseph, Michigan, as an inspector. It was there that she met a handsome welder and in 1944 she married dea young. The next 17 years she reared their four children, three sons and a daughter. In 1960 when her youngest went to school she went with her. Accecpting a temporary job as a substitute teacher that was only suppose to last for 3 months. For 30 plus years she worked at st. Joseph catholic school in Watervliet. 15 years as a teacher, and another 17 years as their secretary.

Virginia joins god in heaven along with her parents, her loving husband, Dea, her devoted son Ronald, two brothers, George and Emerson Davis, three sisters. Bernice Davis, Pauline Rittenhouse and Mildred Ansteth.

Surviving Virginia are her 2 sons, David (Cindy) young of Watervliet. Thomas (peg) young of Franklin, Tennessee, and a daughter Mary (Tony) Postelli of Coloma. 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Her sister, Vivian Northrup of Arlington Iowa. Three very dear friends, Judy, Joseph and Kathleen, her adopted children. Also a host of extended family and friends.

In leiu of flowers please donate to the dearest thing that Virginia loved, that would be children. Shriners hospital in Virginia's name, would be an honor to her, or to the donors choice.

Virgina's most dearest things were her family. She made Sunday dinners every sunday, attendance was madatory. She loved sitting on her porch swing for hours and visiting with family and friends. She was most proud of her home, her flowers and garden. She was a true gift that will be greatly missed by many. She gave unconditionally to all she came in contact with. She ran a "tight ship". And her motto was: what goes around comes around.
