Wayne's life began April 19, 1926 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Wayne grew up in Iowa where he graduated high school. After graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Upon returning home Wayne went to college to become a lab technician. Taking a job at Watervliet Community Hospital in their lab brought him to Michigan.
Wayne was an active member at Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma where he sang in the church choir, enjoyed making church calls, visiting shut-ins, and was on the Board of Elders for many years. Wayne also enjoyed filling his time fishing.
His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his loving family which includes: four children Karen (Bob) Wallace, Monica Brown, Maury (Pam) Bakken, David (Dolores) Bakken; six grandchildren Adam Wallace, Josh Wallace, Amanda Wallace, Erik (Aggie) Bakken, Jessica Brown, and Lindsey Brown; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Wayne died Sunday, July 13, at home. His loving wife Mardella, a grandson Jacob Wallace, and four siblings precede Wayne in death. Funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday, July 16, at 11:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma with visitation prior starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens.
