Donna (Schwarz) Dell, 88, a life-long resident of Bainbridge Township, Watervliet, Michigan, departed this life on August 9, 2022.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Plymouth Congregational Church at 2 p.m. It will also be live-streamed at https://bit.ly/3Pe3yeP
Viewing will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on August 12, at Hutchins Funeral Home, Watervliet.
Donna was born May 23, 1934 in Coloma, Michigan to Frederick And Helena (Zass) Schwarz. On May 11, 1957 she married Merton Dell. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church where she had been an active member, Deaconess and on various committees. She and her husband Merton were leaders in the restoration of St. Paul’s church cemetery as well as several other cemeteries. In later years she was an active member of the Watervliet Plymouth Congregational Church, Deaconess, choir member, and various other committees. She attended the two-room Cribbs School in Bainbridge Township and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1952. She worked in the office of Michigan Bell Telephone Company for several years. Later she worked beside her husband in fruit and vegetable farming on the same homestead where she was born and raised.
She is survived by Merton, her husband of 65 years, her two daughters, Valerie (William) Huber of Vienna, Virginia and Christine (Erich) Eckley of Bellbrook, Ohio, five grandsons, Aaron Huber, Matthew Huber, Andrew Eckley, William Huber, and Daniel Eckley, two granddaughters Emily (Maxwell) Roy and Cayla Eckley, five great-grandchildren, Marlowe Huber, Graham Huber, Lucie Roy, William Huber IV, and Teagan Huber; one sister, Denise (Jeff) Costello of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Frederick Schwarz on May 25, 1980, her mother, Helena (Zass) Schwarz, on December 20, 1991, as well as her sister Dianna (Schwarz) Dell, December 16, 2004, and brother Warren Schwarz on February 10, 2010. Burial will follow the funeral services at New Hope Cemetery, Bainbridge Township. Memorial gifts may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church, Watervliet, Michigan.
