Kathy’s life began August 1, 1960 in Marion, Ohio. Her dad worked at Whirlpool and they relocated him to St. Joseph when Kathy was a young teenager. Kathy finished growing up in St. Joseph where she graduated high school. In June of 1995 Kathy and her husband Charles purchased Riverside Tavern and she’s been proudly serving one of the best burgers around since. When she wasn’t tending to the tavern Kathy enjoyed reading, baking amazing desserts, traveling and taking cruises. Her favorite activity was supporting her grandsons in their activities. Kathy will forever be remembered for having a huge heart and helping people.
Kathy’s greatest joy came in spending time with her loving family including her daughter Stacy Denton, two grandsons Evan Orlando and Nick Orlando. She will be missed by six brothers and a sister; Michael(Carol) Denton, Kevin(Barbara) Denton, Matthew Denton, Jeffery(Regina) Denton, Cheryl(Kelvin) Hacker, Eric(Charmin) Denton, and Scott(Neva) Denton, 11 nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncle's, and cousin's. The number of people who consider Kathy a great friend is too large to count and she was known for going out of her way to help her friends and family.
Kathy died Saturday, July 23, at Spectrum Health Lakeland in St. Joseph. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Peapples, her parents James and Charlotte (Blevins) Denton and two brothers, James Denton and David Denton.
