Lorraine’s life began August 16, 1923, in Duluth, Minnesota. As a young child her family moved to Chicago where she grew up and graduated high school. Lorraine moved to Michigan as a young bride and made her forever home in Watervliet. Lorraine enjoyed her slice of paradise on Paw Paw Lake where she loved taking a pontoon ride or just being outside enjoying nature. You could find her supporting Notre Dame Sports year long and she could be found supporting her grand and great grandchildren in their sports and activities. Lorraine was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet and enjoyed giving her time to Immaculate Conception in Hartford as well. She was a staple in both church families volunteering in any way she could find. Lorraine was also a volunteer for the prison ministry for several years.
Her greatest joy came in spending time with her loving family including: three children Charlie (Linda) Pater, Lori (Bob) Hosbein, and Joe (MaryAnn) Pater; eight grandchildren Bill Pater, Mike Casey, Ann (Jerry) Beeney, Jessica (Clint) Jewell, Kelly (Ed) Hearn, Josh Lang, Amy (Matt) Ellspermann, and CJ (Ashleigh) Pater; 11 great grandchildren; and a niece and nephew.
Lorraine died Saturday, February 13, at home surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by a daughter Therese Lang, her parents Joseph and Lorraine (Greenwood) Schulte, and a brother Joe Schulte. Friends may visit with Lorraine’s family Sunday, February 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 21, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for Lorraine’s family.
