Phyllis Kling Obituary

On Monday, March 25, Phyllis J. Kling, rejoined her beloved husband, Louis Kling, and  her parents, Fred and Norma Winans and Loretta  and Jim (Parshall) Whiteside in a joyful reunion.  She was greeted with love by her siblings, Fred Winans, Gene (Mary Jo) Winans, Darlene (Don) Horton, Duane Winans, Larry Winans, and Karen Winans, brother and sisters-in-law Howard and Delores Bishop and Delores Kling, other members of her family, and many friends.  She passed away at Lakeland Spectrum hospital with members of her family by her side.  Over the weekend while she was there, she listened to the stories and laughter of those she loved the most, as they said their good byes, shed their tears and urged her to go Home.

Phyllis loved life, and lived it to the fullest to the very end.  She will be missed beyond measure by her three children and their families:  Michael (Jon Landstrom) Kling of St. Paul,  MN;  Rhonda Kling of Coloma, MI; and Timothy (Jenine) Kling of Hartford, MI;  she is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela (Ryan Wagner) Kling, Ryan (Chastity) Kling,  Alexandra (Zach Williams) Kling,  Ashley Kling, Danny (Terry) Boswell, and Lisa (Mike) Pflugradt;  seven great grandchildren Chyanne, Destiny, Ciera, Ronda, Ryanne, Annabel, and Marshal; one great-grandchild, Niyah; a brother Donald (Mattie) Winans of Alabama; brothers and sisters-in-law Barb Winans, Peg Winans, Gloria Winans, Marion and Bud Davis, and Bob Kling; a step-sister Barb Hammond; numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

Phyllis was born October 18, 1934, in Watervliet, MI.  She grew up with her siblings, graduated from WHS, and on May 5, 1956, she married the love of her life, Louis.  After Louis returned home from serving his country, they settled down to live in Hartford, where they raised their children.  Phyllis worked at both Clark Equipment and Gran Tran.  When she retired she always stayed active, meeting friends for dinner at "Charlie's" often (you could see her beautiful smile across the room) if you dropped in around 4 pm.  She loved the beauty of nature, watching humming birds, tucking in her "kitty cat" every night in her garage, repeats of her favorite John Wayne movies and collecting his memorabilia, taking drives for ice cream on Sundays with Louis, and Fridays at her hairdressers followed by dinner out.  She was kind, gentle, bold and funny and her laugh would resonate in a room full of people.

Friends may visit with Phyllis' family on Friday, April5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet where funeral services will be celebrated Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  You are invited to leave a message of comfort for Phyllis' family at  hutchinsfuneral.com    Memorials may be sent to St. Judes Hospital and the Disabled American Vets.
