Wesley Schreiber Obituary

Wes was born to Edward and Harriet (Erickson) Schreiber in Benton Harbor, MI on September 1, 1952. He passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 20th, 2023 in Kalamazoo, MI.
He married Cheri, the love of his life, in 1974 and they started their own family with the birth of their first child, Wesley II. Three years later they celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Tonia, who completed their family.

Wes entered the workforce after finishing his education at Coloma Schools. He inherited the love of woodworking from his father who also encouraged him to join the Carpenter's Union. Throughout his career he supervised many multi-million dollar projects and retired as a master carpenter. Wes was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about woodworking and carpentry.  His children and grandchildren proudly carry on that legacy.
He mentored many, but was proudest to mentor his own son, Wes II, and was overjoyed when he won second place in the state-wide apprenticeship competition.  Wes had a passion for sharing his vast knowledge with unending patience and love. He was Cheri's biggest supporter in her craft business and became excited when he could build displays and cut items for her to paint. His latest endeavor was learning to design patterns and fabricate them on his new LightBurn Laser xTool.
Another passion of Wes' was coaching his daughter during her first eight years of softball. Not only did he love coaching her, he cherished all the girls he coached and left a life-long impression on them which is still evident today. Later in life, when not coaching, he loved to watch and cheer on his children and grandchildren both on and off the field.
Wes had an adoration for camping and traveling. His bucket list included a trip out west to stand on the corner of Winslow, Arizona.  In 2019, he, Cheri and the dogs conquered that corner, as well as every other point of adventure across the Mississippi.  As constant companions, the dogs often dictated their plans for the day!  Most certainly the trip of a lifetime!!
Wes leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including his wife of 48 years, Cheri (Wagner) Schreiber; daughter Tonia (Nathan) Bobay; grandchildren Samantha Schreiber (Caleb Dahlke), Brandon Whitaker, and Kody and Addison Riley; sisters Connie Schreiber and Annette Messinger; brothers Keith (Debbie) Schreiber, Mark (Lisa) Schreiber; sisters-in-law Sylvia (Audie) Moore, Debbie (Andy) VanDerbeck, and Kris Kridler Wagner; fur babies Max, Kenzie, Olivia, and Stormy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wes is preceded in death by his parents; his son Wesley Schreiber II; brothers Daniel, Dennis, and Edward R. Schreiber; brothers-in-law Max Wagner Jr., Ollie Wagner, and James Messinger; mother-in-law Donna Schmidtman and father-in-law Max Wagner Sr.
