Bill’s life began March 11, 1933, in Watervliet, Michigan. He grew up in Watervliet where he graduated high school. After high school Bill proudly served in the United States Navy. It was while serving in the Navy he met Barbara O’Neill when he was a patient at Chelsea Naval Hospital. Three years later Bill and Barb married on January 5, 1957 in Revere, Massachusetts. After his service Bill returned to Watervliet where he and Barb made their home and he worked for the Watervliet Paper Company. Bill was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Bill died Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital St. Joseph. He leaves behind a sister-in-law Christine (Joseph) Miarecki, several nieces and nephews, his puppy Sassy, and a host of friends to cherish his memory. Bill is preceded in death by the love of his live Barbara Fay and his parents Lawrence and Maggie (Gillard) Fay.
Friends may visit with Bill’s family Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Visitation will be followed by military rites. Memorials may be made in Bill’s memory to North Berrien Senior Center. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for Bill’s family.
