My condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one, and may the future promises of Almighty God to mankind comfort you in your times of sorrow, long ago, God foretold through His written word, the Bible, about a time, right here on His earth when He'll do away with everything that causes us pain, suffering and sorrow, please read Acts 24:15, Revelation 21:4,5.

To the Hake girls and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Dick was one of the best Uncles a fela could have. He was always kind and caring. I have many good memories of his and your Mom's visits to Canada. I also have this great picture of me sitting in the JeBeDee (not sure about the spelling) when I was just a kid. It was my birthday, while I was there, and it is one that I will never forget.

My heart hurts today, as I know yours must be too.
Please be strong and know we are with you all in prayer's

Cousin Kyle and Family.

Jennifer - your dad was both my drafting and physics teacher, as well as one of my class advisers. I have many fond memories: his intelligence, sense of humor, and high standards. At the same time, he encouraged and supported all students while treating us as young adults. I had a fondness for physics, and because there was no 2nd year of classroom study available, he allowed a classmate and me to define an independent study curriculum. That is just one example of how he went above and beyond. l have such immense gratitude and respect for your father. God bless you and your family.

I've enjoyed reading the posts from some of Uncle Dick's students. Now I know why he was always urging me to pursue writing: he was a teacher of the best sort., encouraging to all.
As one of his three Canadian nieces, I didn't see as much of him as I would have liked, but he ventured west for an Alaskan cruise, and we hosted he and Aunt Doreen for a brief visit to Vancouver Island.
It was at the Comox Air Base , near us, that he found himself on VJ Day, so we made a visit to the small museum there. I regret that I didn't think to try and arrange a meeting with an old vet so they might have shared some moments....
He was my mother's beloved older, and only,, brother so I knew him mostly through her stories:: the great love affair that started between two 13yr olds, and lasted for over 70 yrs, is my favourite. I have no doubt their reunion has been a joyous one.
There are also two old sailors dear to us who will celebrate Uncle Dick's arrival on the next part of his journey: Don Dewey and Ben Hoag, two brother's in law, will be there to throw him a line.
Love to you all.

Mr. Hake was also my favorite teacher. He had a kind way about him. Not only did he teach me to draw, but also how to print in a way that still impresses me today when I look at my old assignments.

Like my fellow former classmate Mike Wurn, I am a design engineer. I went from drafting on a board to now doing 3D solid modeling on a computer. It is very interesting work and usually the days seem to go by quickly.

Over the years I have thought about Mr. Hake on many occasions. It has always been with appreciation for his kind ways and for all he taught me.

I would also like to express my deepest sympathy for the family.

I loved your Dad!! He was one of my 1st foot clinic patients in Coloma, along with your Mom, Doreen. They were such a delightful couple. I know he really missed her after she died. I am so sorry for your loss!! I looked forward to each of his and their visits over the years. He reminded me so much of a best friend to my own father. I even showed your Dad a picture of this man and your Dad agreed he looked a lot like this other man. Please know you will be in my prayers. Nurse Jane :)

Mr. Hake was my drafting teacher throughout High School (Class of 1978). He was one of my favorite teacher during those years. He taught me that exact accuracy was good enough in drafting and architecture. I've thought of him often over the years, especially when I printed anything and I used the drafting/printing techniques he taught us.

Mr. Hake, as we respectfully called him, was a great teacher and mentor. I first met him when I was a freshman at WHS and fell in love with drafting class that he taught. I knew from that time on I was going to work in designing products of some kind, so I then took Physics, and also Chemistry that he taught. I now work designing Accelerator Pedal Modules for major car companies and have 6 patents in that field. It all started with the guidance and intelligent mentoring from Mr Hake. I never returned to thank him although I should have, That is my biggest regret.

Mike......what can I say but NO regrets. You witnessed the greatest standing ovation ever with the pouring down rain and the perfectly timed thunder....Dad saw you and he knows. I look forward to getting with you and your wife for that boat ride. Let's keep in touch
